weird pinging issues...need help.
I would call whoever made the tune that you have (you said it is modified) and find out what they recommend (or call someone like KRC Performance). in that link I posted I though it indicated 2-6?? for a stock block setup, 6-8 for modded block. one way to look at the fuel sync is it is similar in a way to ignition timing... there is settings that will make it run & then there should be a sweet spot for optimizing performance
aim4squirrels, dude, you need to buy a scanner.
I had a few problems with my Dakota and decided to spend the money to get an OBD 1 scanner that allowed me to monitor everything realtime. After I fixed the problems years ago I haven't needed it since. It's been sitting in my garage for years collecting dust, It's kinda like having insurance.
You know, Murphy's Law

Guess I didn't clarify as I still have several ask randomly,
The ping was fixed after the retune and me tearing in and cleaning the injectors, soldering IAT, replacing the coolant temp sensor, etc.
I do get a random misfire code after installing the fresh tune but after the PCM figures everything out, it goes away and doesn't come back.
I have my suspicions that the heads might be cracked and I'm going to replace them with some heads with 2.02 intake valves. It should compliment the new intake nicely. Got a good deal a pair of EQ Iron Rams with the 2.02 intake valves for under $800.00. Install will be March if I can scrape up the cash.

Heads are on their way.
EQ Iron Rams 2.02 intake valves 1.62 exhaust. Hardened, pressed in exhaust valve seats. Supposedly a different and better casting than the stockers.
I'll have to call Dan Arcand and see if I should be upgrading to the 52mm TB. The madness never ends...

the stick will have to wait for the summer, the stocker stays for now. Can't afford the heads, stick, and new roller rockers right now. Might need new lifters at 90K and wouldn't mind hardened pushrods either.
