Default Fuel pump lock nut

I am removing the fuel pump on my 96 1500 and wanted to know how a DIY'er would get the lock nut holding the pump off?

I used a heavy ball peen hammer and a large screwdriver to knock it loose. It should be plastic, like the 1997, so there's no chance of a spark. The strap wrench didn't work for me.

Smile Got it

Thanks. I also tried a rigged strap wrench with an old serpentine belt, no luck.
I got it off with hammer and screwdriver. Just wanted to check here first in case there were problems with the ring cracking.

Be certain to replace the seal that separates the pump from the tank.
