Hey guys i can get a 01 ram thats been wrecked for next to nothing and im just wondering if it could be a direct swap mines a 97. I saw in anthor post that the trannys wont work could i bolt my tranny up to this motor and what about the transfer case would it work.The shiffting in the cab is difff then mine so dont know if the entire linkige is diff. Oh and its a 5.9

 

The only question, I think, is the electronics side of things. They are both OBD II, and 1996 was the first year they went with the 46RE tranny for the V8s, so you should be fine for the most part.

I think it should be just fine, but keep in mind you may have to switch a few little things out here and there in addition to the big things.
