Need a dodge owners advice.
ok so ive been in the market for a truck for a few months and finally decided to start looking around because i have some extra cash. and i came across this truck on craigslist recently and im wondering if someone can tell me if its a decent deal or not heres the add he posted
I have for sale a 1995 dodge ram 1500 4x4. This truck has no power options . it has 160,000 mi . it has never had the tranny replaced , which i believe means that it mad it out of the factory with a good tranny . no slips no hesitations . it has a 318 in and get 15 to 16 mpg . The truck has plenty of rust . it runs like the day it was bought . very strong runner .The four wheel drive works great . i have had it out on the rite of way at work in some bad mud holes and she is an animal. has new ball joints on the left side new bearings on left , 2 new rotor and brake pads on the front . the front axle u joints are new , new front shocks . it need rear brakes worked on . it also needs an alignment . i drive this truck 700 mi a week and it is very reliable . asking 1000
the brake work is a rear right wheel cylinder, and he said he would change it if i bought the part. and the only other thing it needs is maybe new front tires. he says there worn on the inside and an alignment. heres a few pictures. ive asked a couple of my friends, but there die hard chevy and gmc guys so all they tell me is, oh its muddy so he beats on it and its not worth $1000. so i decided to ask some dodge guys instead. thank you

from the view in the pic and if all was replaced like he said and it runs good yes thats a good deal . have you listened to it and road tested it if you like it and runs good buy it . oh and never ask a chevy or ford guy what they think lol
The tranny might still be OK , but between all the rust and how old it is, and the miles on it(and not knowing the REAL history of the truck) it has or is going to have some probs . And by looking at the first pic , it looks like it has some serious toe out and negative camber issues. Even the tires look worn on the inside. Unless it's just the pic , but I don't think so. Negative camber that looks like that means bent axle tubes or collapsing spindles,(that's why they sell adjustable BJ's). Probably from some beating on it 4 wheeling or accident.
I wouldn't pay 500 for that truck.

15-16mpg sound a bit too good to be true. If the trans has that many miles, your only taking a gamble. If you do buy it, plan on being the last owner. The odds are stacked against you with the tranny, and if it goes... its worth nothing pretty much. I'd give 300 for it.... thats about it. take a few things and scrap it for 200. You don't want to buy a truck for 1000, and next week put in a tranny for 3000 and never get it back out. You can find better deals out there... keep looking.
