Fleet trucks
4.7L is the largest eng in dakota (nd) in 07 look at the sticker under the hood ? look where are the spark plugs? 5.2L has plug wires 3.7L &4.7 Ldont they dont even look the same as a 5.2L. they dont use left over parts to make fleet. 2003 they offerd 3.9L 4.7L & 5.9L 1999 was latest to offer 5.2L after that they were 5.9L
How do you know they don't throw "left over" stuff into fleet vehicles? Obviously they couldn't throw left over body parts, but if the drivetrain fits and you need to get rid of it, and the government doesn't care (which they obviously wouldn't), why not?
I will make him take a picture and send it to me, then I will post. Maybe he didn't know what he was talking about, but he usually knows his vehicle pretty well.
I emailed my dad about the Dakota, and asked him to take a look at the engine himself, and send pics if it was the 5.2L. Here was his reply:
I went and checked… it’s a 4.7L V-8 (4.7L is stamped in the plastic on top of the motor). When I got the vehicle, I was told it was a 318 CID V-8, which would be a 5.2L and, of course, that’s what I’ve been relaying to people who ask…as you know. However, after this many years of working for the government, you’d think I’d know better than to listen to a bureaucrat (because I am one and I don’t listen to myself). And I really can’t swear that it’s a 2007 because a bureaucrat told me that, too. I guess I’ll have to see if there is an owner’s manual or something in the glove compartment that indicates the year, although it had about 10,000 miles on it when I got picked it up in March of this year… and that would make it about a year old at that time; so 2007 is probably right.
