Default MPG Update!

Ok , so after the mods I have done, my Ram was still getting around 10 mpg, highway or city. Most of the mods were done at the same time, so I could not tell which one was best, or did this or that. A few months ago I had a 40 series FM muffler cat back dual system , the 14x3 mod, the hypertech running on the 91or 93 (or whatever it is) octane setting to get rid of the death flash and the fastman TB.

After that stuff, First thing I did was put the OEM TB air cleaner intake back on, because I really don't like the sucking noise, but whatever.

Then I got the Magna Flow direct replacement Y pipe and all, high flow cat. Which in turn, was way too loud for my taste(and I don't like the off throttle popping) and my neighbors,LOL. So I put a 50 series muffler on to quiet it down a little. And also started using MMO in the gas. Well, last week I used the truck a few days to make the trip and I got 14.8 mpg.

Anyway, I decided to put the 14x3 back on (and live with the sucking noise that everyone loves,LOL)and see what, if any difference there might be. As I will be using the truck to go back down there a few times within the next couple weeks. So we'll see I guess.

It's got about 148 thousand on it. I have already stated in another thread a while back, about how good it runs using the MMO. Don't know how much using MMO is contributing to the mpg , but it runs so good I don't really care.LOL

zman,

Have you ever run mopar combustion chamber cleaner thru it? It's like tune up in a can.

I would imagine the MMO is helping with the carbon build up as well.

If you do try it, be ready for a smoke show when you fire it up!

It can't hurt to try it. 4 oz. to 10 gallons fuel.

And also like I stated above. I put the 14x3 back on yesterday. I drove all over the place today, probably a hundred miles total, highway and regular roads. And although the truck ran good, without any doubt in my mind I lost a considerable amount of bottom end and passing power. So needless to say, I'm putting the stock air intake with the K&N filter back on .
