headlight prob....

Default headlight prob....

ok for about a week now ive noticed a wierd smell in my cab light burning kinda well then my high beams started to go out theyd stay on for about 10-15 mins then start blinking on and off today i checked the bulbs they was all good checked the ground wires all good checked for naked wires all tapped up drove it tonight and noticed when i use the high beams the burnin smell is coming from the headlight switch the pull **** on the dash but when i use low beams the smell goes away dont believe the head light switch has ever been changed think this is the problem? i have a 97 ram 2500 gasser tell me what u all think since the part is 90 bucks at advanced...thanks..!

not "cab light" i meant in the cab like a burnin smell lol sorry yall

Sure sounds like your headlight switch is burning. It's a common problem in these trucks. Shop around locally and online. I found that prices vary widely (from about $25 to $100). You might want to consider putting the headlights on a relay to avoid this problem in the future. There's a write-up on it on this board. You can also get a ready-made heavy duty harness from LMC Truck. It worked well for me but some others have had trouble with it.

I should also mention that when my headlights went out it was the headlight switch connector that had melted and the switch was still good. I started by replacing the connector because it was cheaper and it turned out to be the culprit.
