Default HELP - I need new tires and have some questions. RETREADED TIRES/

I currently have a 99' 1500 Ram, 3" lift with 17 inch 2005' Ram wheels and 35" Parnelli Jones tires. A few weeks ago I had a blow out and after looking at my other tires I need ALL new tires BADLY! So needless to say I don;'t have 1k-1500 bucks for new tires. The MAX I can spend is 500 bucks. SO as you can see my options are limited and my truck is down until I can find some new tires.

So a buddy told me about a site called treadwright.com that sells retreaded tires, well I can get 33" tires for 90 bucks EACH, which will be in my budget on how much I have to spend. What are your thoughts on retreaded tires? Has anyone used them? I will be doin city, highway, and some off road driving every once in a while. Here is the tire I want, the largest they have are 33" tires so i'll be losing 2" but that's ok I guess.
http://treadwright.com/Tires-33x12_50R17_D_Mud-P78.aspx

Thanks in advance, If anyone has any other suggestions or coments please feel free to add them. OR if you have some cheap 33" or 35" tires for 17" wheels then please let me know as well. Thanks in advance everyone!

Resist the urge to go cheap on tires. Don't waste you time with retreads. Nothing good can come from them. Spend a few more dollars and get new.

A few more dollars lol, try like 1,000 more dollars. Like I said if they sold new tires for 500 bucks i'd be set but during this crappy economic times I don;t have 1500 bucks for tires and winter is approaching fast and my truck is down right now and I need it running asap.
Is there a reason your saying stay away from retreads?

$1500? What tires are you getting and who are you having install them???

If I went ultra deluxe A/T tires, like Bridgestone Revos or BFG KOs, in 285/75R16 (largest you can fit under a stock height 4x4 Ram without rubbing), I can get them and have them installed for around $800, just shy of $1000 if I had them put a fifth tire on my spare rim. Maybe less.

I have pro comp xtrem at's, very happy with them, rated e (33x13.5x18) and currently have 83k miles on them, still not down to the wear bars.

Worth every penny...!!!

My Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip tires are around 290 EACH + Shipping so thats roughly 1200 bucks + mounting and balancing, so thats where I estimated 1500 bucks roghly with tires/shipping/mouting and balancing. SO yah thats not going to happen since i'm broke.

Just about any set I find are 800+ and then I have to pay for shipping, so all these are out of my price range. Yes i'd love to have some awesome "new" tires but I just can not afford it, so I either need to find some great deal or I guess buy these retreaded tires, in which the 33's are out of stock right now so I'm kinda screwed i guess. Ahh wonderful

Aren't they like almost 400 bucks EACH? Yah I don;t have the funds for that lol. Man why do truck tires have to be so darn expensive. This sucks!

gotcha... hit craigslist in a 100~200 mi radius of where you live, you often can find a deal there. I found my tires & rims for $1000 bux + my stockers as the guy was trading in his truck. He JUST put them on 2 weeks earlier. I figured I'd run them down, 30~35k & go get what I'd like to have and was suprised by the tread wear. during that period I came across another set that had been yanked in favor of 35's and were on the truck for about a month... guy wanted $600 for the set, emailed him, didnt hear back over the weekend, then got an email on monday saying I could have them for $400 if I came & got them today. 115 mi 1 way plus the cost of diesel. they are still waiting to go on

story is... check craigslist.org often and you may get lucky.

Yah i've been hitting up craigslist and looking on there everyday, nothing came up yet. It seems like 17" wheels are harder to find tires for. Thanks for the suggestion though.
