Default Bigster's ram winter project

Hi folks,

I thought to myself, maybe it would be cool to post a topic of the rest of my repairs, just for information to others who maybe have to do the same thing to their truck. I usually forget my camera, but for this I'll make an effort

The following repairs are on the menu:

  • Automatic door lock system: switches inside work fine, but if i open the truck from the outside with key, only that door opens.
  • blower motor: i have to manually shut it off with the rotor switch, it keeps running even with the key out of the contact
  • dents: removing, painting the whole bed
  • sound system: upgrading the wiring to ISO standards and putting some nice gear into the truck
  • Front bumper: cleaning, painting and putting it back into original position (sagging down)
  • Rear brakes: check-up, adjustment or replacement
  • Interior: cleaning, upgrading, repairs
As you see, it's nothing fancy but I have my work for the winter. If anybody has suggestions about the first 2 repairs, let me know! The rest is not a brain buster, but could be useful for other truck drivers.

I will probably start next weekend with all the repairs, so have a little patience.

Greetz,

Bigster

My winter project is to rewire my power windows so they work when the key is on ACC or On.
I hate the fact that if i am in the truck waiting for my son to finish with his football practice that i have to toggle from acc to on just to move the windows.

Allright, little update:

So a friend of mine drove his Japanese SUV into the passenger door of my ram with his trunk lid open... result, the door is now scrap.

Good news is that his insurance pays for the whole new door and paint.

Even better news is that a door over here costs a ton of money...

And the best news is that i found a second hand door for peanuts and with the rest of the money the ram will get a full paint job

I hope to have it repainted in january, first i have to take out all of the dents out the rear panels and drivers side door and prepare the truck for paint myself. I'll try to make pics to post over here so you see the progress of the ram winter project

Greetz,

Bigster

umm I belive that if you unlock with the key only the door you unlock is supose to open. AFAIK theres nothing in there to tell it to open the other doors.

98Ram how do you change the window deal? Do you have to rewire the whole thing or is there a simple fix

I have some stuff to do, too, but I'm waiting until spring/summer...the winter is for staying warm.

I think he meant a keyless entry.
