Tire offset?
As many of you know (too many posts!
) I run stock rims with 285/75R16 wheels. What is the stock offset for our tires? is it zero or even minus?
I would like to get new rims, still 16, but with an inch and a half positive offset. I just like seeing the tire sticking out more from the body. Any rim recommendation? I want something that won't take me to the bank...please no bling bling style...I use my truck...well as a truck for hunting, off roading and annoying the wife!

The backspacing on the stock 16" rims is something like 5.5" or 6". On my 17" off-road rims, it is 5.25". Most people recommend a rim with around 4.5" to 4.75" of backspacing to get the look you are after.

I think backspacing refers to how far the center of the wheel or where you place the wheel onto the lugs is in respect to the back of the wheel. So a backspacing of 4.5" would mean that the bolt holes are 4.5" in from the back of the wheel, which correlates to a deeper dish wheel and your wheels sticking further out from under the fender. A larger backspacing means a shallower dish and the wheels will be tucked inside making the wheel look closer to the center of the axle. If that makes any sense.

Yea that totally makes since so I guess the offset isn't really my concern but more of the backspacing. I read sometime that too little backspacing will cause the steering to be off and more strain on the driveline. Any truth to this? I opted not to do wheel spacer as many on the forum told me to run for the hills if I did!
With a smaller backspacing with new rims will my wheel bearings told undue stress and the driveline to be messed up?
