Default Starter prob?

Ok, I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500, Ext Cab, 2 Wheel Drive, 318, 5 speed stick, Sport Edition. Recently the temperature in my area dropped, "33 degrees Hi today" and since it got cold, I have had trouble starting my truck. When I turn the key it just clicks, and after I try a couple times, it will finaly crank, and if it cranks it starts fine. Now, after the engine warms up, i can shut it off, come back later while it is still warm, and it will crank on the first try.
So, is this just the starter? I am planning on replacing the starter this weekend, but if anyone knows of anything to check first, that might save me $120, I would sure appreciate it. Thanx in advance!

i'd guess its the battery. cold temperatures sap them. take it to an autozone-type place and have them load test it. its probably shot.

Doh, I hadnt really thought about that, I had wondered about the battery, but had kinda ruled it out cause it would eventually crank, but I will take it to the nearest Autozone tomorrow, and have the battery tested. Thanx

Edit: I had the batt. load tested today, and they said that yes it was shot, so this weekend I will put in a new Batt. Thanks for the reply.
