Default 10x3 air cleaner

i chose to go with the 10x3 air cleaner. so far i like it i haven't driven the truck yet i will take it to work in the morning. i like the look of the smaller filter, it sure cleaned up the underside of the hood. not to mention the chrome looks good too. the one i got was from auto zone, i didnt have to use the spacer everything cleared. also it had the hook up for the PCV hose, and i liked that. thanks to all whop have given there input on this little mod.

I was thinking about doing this mod too. The only thing that holds me back is the possibility of getting water in the manifold. I do take my truck through some pretty good size puddles every once in a while so should I stay away from a round filter like this?

that should be fine unless you hit the water at 100mph and splash water all under the hood which isnt good for anything on your truck. but just playing and spinning should be ok

I've posted pics in the past of what an open filter looks like after going through just a few large mud holes, but i'll post again below. Not pretty for the round filter setup. If your talking about street puddles and stuff, should be fine. Otherwise, if you like to do puddles like what I did here, your better off staying with the stock air assembly.

I only made about 4 passes through this mud hole, and here is the result. I was carrying a spare filter luckily, and there was a little water on my TB, but not in the intake. A few more passes though, and I probably would have hydrolocked.

You surely didn't hook up the PCV hose to the air cleaner, did you?

The PCV tube goes to the intake manifold. The tube to the air cleaner is supposed to go to valve cover opposite the PCV. The PCV tube is going to spray oil all over the inside of your air hat and filter, so change it.

You have a part number for that autozone filter? Or do they only have one 10x3 air filter?
