I hate to be hellbeant on this, but I was not able to find it (probably doesn't help it's dark and freezing outside). I open the hood and looked behind the top driver side insert. Will there be a wire traveling up the hood to it or something?

neon,

your 2001 ambient air temp sensor is directly in the center of the grille basically behind the ram's head logo. When you open the hood it'll go high in the air. look straight up in the top center of the backside of the grille.
A new one cost me about 17.95 from the parts counter at the dealership. It's plug and play, don't pay somebody to replace it.

-40 is the default when the ambient air temperature sensor is not working. Ccd in the overhead display is a whole other level of suck.

Perfect, thank you guys. I bet when the guy who owned this truck before bought a new hood he never had it put back in.
