Default Bought a used truck, now what?

I had this inside another thread, so I thought it would make a nice read for new used truck owners.

Also, I love the forum, but ALOT of the diy projects are missing the pictures, so it makes it hard to understand for the newbies!

Here is my question to start this thread; You bought a used Dodge Ram, so what maintenence should you perform on it, especially if there are no previous records?

I am asking this, as I bought a 97 that seems to be in pretty good shape; not dash cracks, rusted areas and etc., but I have had some minor starting issues and a transmission question from another thread. The truck seems to run strong, but I am moving up from a chevy blazer to the dodge...

Well ask yourself what you would normally change if you bought a different car than this dodge. If you didn't know the previous owner, I would change all of the fluids. Do not flush the trans though. Have the pan dropped with a new filter. diff's, transfer case if its 4wd. coolant if you could. Oil definately. Other than that, there really isnt much that I can think of off hand. It depends on how it performs / runs / looks. A tune up (cap and rotor, wires, plugs) will never hurt. Air filter if there is a stock box still or look to upgrade to somethign different. Bottle of injector cleaner etc.
