Default News!... and questions.

Hey all, I haven't ben on for a while, but I found my way back, 'cuz i know where the good advice is:P
Well, my trucks been laid up for a few months now, and after pulling the tranny four times, I'm finally gonna stop the leak. (hopefully). I had previously spun the bushing between the front pump and the torque converter, so I bought a new converter and bushing, and replaced it, and it still leaks. So now, I'm going to replace the pump as well, I'm picking it up tomorrow, and I had a question that maybe some of you will have answers for. The question being should I go ahead and redo the clutches and steels in the front of the tranny behind the pump, I know I could do it myself, I already had it all apart. the truck has 118K on it, and I dont know when or if ever it was rebuilt... the other thing i was wondering, if I do that, should i go ahead and install a shift kit while i'm at it? I'm looking forward to driving this thing again, and dumping some money into it. (hopefully 10 series flows, a Fastman, lower it a little....) anyway, thanks guys!

You should definatally put a shift kit in it when you have the tranny out. You should also get a deeper pan and a larger cooler(if you tow).

Great place to get tranny parts and shift kits

Cool. thats what I thought too... I just picked up my pump yesterday, and now I just have to wait for another check before I can pick up a rebuild kit. I'm thinking of just getting one from transgo that has the shift kit and the clutches and bands. I've been looking at the APS site for a few months and drooling, but I don't think I can afford it. :P

Word of advise. I would wait to put the shift kit it. I would first make sure you solve your problem before installing a shift kit. Once everything is working right install your shift kit. It could cause other unforeseen problems. Not that im saying you don't know what your doing. **** I would just rebuild the whole thing while your at it. A rebuild kit is only 200 bucks. Most shift kits only require you to drop the valve body. Good Luck man

Dodgeman- well, I got out again, and decided that everything looks okay, nothings really that worn, so i got it back together, I just need a new pan gasket and to install the drive line, then we'll see if it leaks... hope not, but yeah, I decided to wait on the shift kit also, (I spent all the money I could on fluid and the pump and whatnot).
