Default Fuel pump dude

FUEL PUMP for sure!!! I have a 95 5.9 and I thought it was the TPS or tranny. Well about a few hundred later and no resolution and a rough idle, decreased uphill performace and a mindgraine later the dang thing went out on me at the worst time. My prego wife was in the car and freezing rain all around! My pappaw has been a chrysler mechanic since the 40's now retired but we pulled it and yep sure enough sediment and yellow powder clogged the oem fuel pump. I threw a bosche fp back in and threw away the old gas poured in some brand new fuel. I didnt want cross contamination!!! OH and the roll over valve need to come off the old carter pump and put on the new! For some dumb reason this individual part doesnt come along with the assembly and its about 45-50 bucks at the dealership. Personally I dont think id be able to walk away from a roll over incident on the hgwy so we used the spare extra tank nipple and rubber gromment then simply grinded slowly... i repeat slowly!!! then put it on there and put the evap hose on this instead oh the retarded roll over valve... hope that helps

I have taken it to two shops now that can't recreate the problem. The second shop I took it to today believes it is a problem with the ignition system and I have them replacing the cap, rotor, wires, and spark plugs ($454 including $90 in diagnostic fees...ouch). Part of their reasoning is the system reading 26 kV instead of the 16-18 it should be. Anyone have thoughts on that?

They are also yanking off the air box to visually check the plenum.

NEVER, EVER! Pay that much for just a simple tune-up. All that can be done for under $120, W/good parts.

Holy poo! I'm in the wrong business! That is insane... Oily residue is normal, but oil puddling means blown gasket...

Yeah. Right now I don't have much of an option. It is 10 degrees out and I NEED this vehicle. It is going to be really interesting to see their parts list and pricing, we might have a nice long talk.

Also, while I could do the work myself the temperature and the lack of any place whatsoever to work on it prevents me from doing anything at the moment.

+1... If the plenum issue has not fixed, then the new cat will go bad in no time. Did it run better after first replacing the cat? The o2's also need to be replaced.
