4.10s?
Anybody know where I can find 4.10 gears for my front and rear axles for a good price? I think I have to put a new carrier on the front. Its a dana 44 I believe where can I get alll of this stuff and how much will it be?
just curious, why 4.10's you are only runnin 33" tires, you have the 360. the higher the gears the worse gas mileage you get if ya do any kind of highway. if you want gears, i would go with the 3.73's and put lsd's which is probably what ill be doing once i get the money.
the 3.55s i have really blow....with the 33s it cant get out of its own way and either way it only gets 12mpg highway anyway i figure i might as well go for performance cuz the mileage wont get much better even if i try. second I dont very much highway driving and I really want more low end power. besides i've heard of people putting in 4.56s with 33s I was thinking about 3.92s but after research i found that the perf gains of the 4.10s outweigh the very small economy benefit of the 3.92s.
what my real plans are is the get the 4.10s throw in a shift kit and torque converter on my tranny and possibly buy a used engine and rebuild it at my own leisure.
I'm gonna start with the gears so anybody know of a convenient place to get everything i need?

They don't make 3.73's for our axles, and why would you waist money on that small of a change.
I'm running 4.10's on a 265X70X16 tire. That's considered grossly over geared. It ain't, mileage on the highway has dropped by maybe 2 mpg's if I feel like i have to do 70mph. I go slower and I don't notice.
Mileage in town has improved slightly. I get off the line at a stop easier, and I get out of the low, luggy RPM's much quicker.

If the OP has 33" tires, 4.10's would put him pretty close to stock gearing. I might go with 4.56's if it was mine.
Aim4squirrels, if your 265/70/16's are 31.5" like mine were, 4.10's would put you equal to a 3.64 gear with 28" tires. Hardly "grossly over geared".

yeah i dont think I am getting the diesel lol and as for the tranny i think its just the poor torque converter thats the culprit for that....
just have to grin and bear it and make this truck the best i can for now

My truck (01 1500 4x4 w/ 360) came stock with 4.10's, and I'm running 275X70XR17, which are 32in tall tires. Now I'm not getting the best gas mileage in the world, 12mpg avg, but I can damn sure lay two smoking black marks every time I take off. My truck is bone stock (which will change after deployment). As far as these gears being too low, I would definitely say from my experience they would be almost perfect for your truck. If not maybe just get a little better gas mileage b/c you are not lugging your engine at every little hill you come to.
