Default Headlight aiming/adjusting is it an art

My low beams could need to be raised some. Is it an art to adjusting them. Do you guys adjust them yourself or take it to the wrench?

When I aim my bulbs I do it myself. Theres a screw for up/down and one for left/right.. I dont have pics but im sure someone here will post them. I find a nice flat surface with a tall wall (I do mine behind the local Home depot) and I park the truck about a truck length and a half from wall and make my adjustments. If I go out on the road and decided I need to tweak I just go back and make the adjustments untill im satisfied.

i took an auto body class last semester, and i believe they said you wanted your low beams to be level with a piece of tape on a flat wall from 20 ft away, and the tape at 3 feet high. try settin that up and then aiming them

The low beams should have a 4 inch drop from the center of the bulb or filament to the center of the hot spot (where the light is shining on the wall) at 20 feet.

yea that sounds more like it, measure the height that the headlights are off the ground, and then put a piece of tape on a wall, that is 4 inches lower than that height, makin sure yer 20 ft from that wall too
