I put Polk DB's up front but used 6.5" ones with adapter plates and they worked fine. I then later put Polk DB components up front and used the same adapter plate. I like the 6.5"s but they don't produce as much bass usually as the 6x9's. If you run a sub like me though that doesn't really matter. It was originally a 6x9 speaker in there but not sure which ones fit.

True when you pull the door panels off your truck you will more than likely destroy those clips.
They are inserted in the door panel all around the outside frame.
And yes the ford clips work fine, but just be careful when you remove the panel that you dont break the grooves that the clip fits into on the panel.

I've never destroyed the clips on my door panels but I have broken the door panel where the clips hook on. I think It was the 3rd time I pulled the front panels off and a few broke. It still holds tight without those there but I wish they hadn't broken. My buddy that used to work at the Dodge dealer talked like this happend all the time and that they most of time just put them back on and they held fine. I wouldn't be happy if they did that to me but I did it to myself and will say it does seem to work ok.
