I like my Cobra 29 wx. Radioshack special when I worked there. I got an 8ft steel whip installed not tuned yet. still workin on that. And deciding on whether to keep it or not. Little bit too tall for the trails.

I have the 8' whip on my truck as well. Around here almost everyone has them but they flop around and I have actually seen them hit other cars. When I got mine I tied it down military style:

I thought about that but my problem is where I mounted it. Think I'm gonna move it. I have it mounted behind the cab on the frame now

Yeah...that would kinda make it hard to tie down. I mounted mine inside the bed near the top at the stake hole. This allowed me to run the wire down inside the bed between the inner and outer skins. I will try and get a pic at lunch to upload.

cool. I'm debating on whether to keep the whip and tie it down or to go with a shorty style. I'm still going to move the antenna to the rear bumper and get all new wire ran. But don't know If the 102" whip will give me any advantage over a fiberglass shorty antenna.

I had the fiberglass shorty and really hated it. I run both my CB and my radio off the same antenna (had the radio antenna torn off shortly after I got the truck) also the tied down whip is a lot easier to handle when going into parking garages.

ok then. Kinda makes up my mind. So do you have a spring on the end to allow it to bend that much or is yours just that flexible?

Mine is just that flexible. I made a hook in the end of it and use a black bungee cord to attach it at the back of the bed.
