Default help with valve adjustment

i have 01 ram 3.9l,


i think i need to adjust my valves,getting a tick...can anyone give me a link of sum hellp on the topic???thanx

You have hydraulic lifters, no adjustment. Try removing the fan belt and run it just long enough to see if the noise is still there. If it's gone it could be the belt or one of pulleys driven by the belt.

I agree with charlie1935, you can't do a adjustment on hydraulic lifters.
If you are getting a "tick" you probably have a lifter leaking down due to oil loss.
This usually occurs due to dirty oil or plugged oil passages.
Try changing the oil and put in a can of Rislone or Marvel Mystery oil.
Run the engine for a while and it should quiet down.
If not either live with the "ticking" or replace the lifters.

ok thanx for the help guys,im prolly gona tear the front end down and do a timing chain i just hit 125,000m,so in my opinion its time..lol so im gona take the down time and take look at the heads,gona pull them off clean em up do what i can.

before you do the teardown, swap in a 24~32oz of marvel mystery oil and let it do it's thing. it'll clean up the insides and probably get rid of the tic you hear. then after the teardown stick with synthetics...

been there/done that and it works awesome.
