Default Truck not heating up

I recently put the stock 195 degree t stat in my truck because i had the 180 before and up in northern MN it gets too cold for that. I am still having trouble with the truck warming up in the cab. The truck itself seems to heat up fine, but i think maybe the heater coil might be plugged a bit. i am just wondering if anyone has had the same symptoms, and what they did?

thanks

Had the same problem, I just did three flushes back to back then filled back up. Everything has been fine since. You don't have moisture on the passenger side carpet do you?

EDIT: also unless the air is somewhat warm, the cable on the climate control behind the dash might have slipped off.

Have also heard of air in the system, so if you do a flush, make sure you purge it well.

Open the hood and feel the hoses going in the firewall and coming out of the firewall, if they are both real hot, then it is a delivery problem,if one is cool to the touch, it is a blockage problem, (cleaning..leak on heater core),

the leaking heater core is VERY common, there are 3 types of heater cores made for our trucks
one is a hard line type made completly of copper and the tubes are solid all the way to the core
the second is the same but made from alluminum
the third is swivel tubes ,that are sealed with an O-ring, this is for the vibration,
when you put back in a heater core after removing the dash and all, pay close attention to how tight it fits in there, use the foam you normally throw away, and put it in there to stop it from bumping around.,also but some foan strips and reseal all the openings on the heater box itself for good flow, and no leaks

if you have a delivery problem, work your cable and make sure you hear a destinctive thump when the heater air mix door closes, you will also hear a difference in sound,of the fan
like the poster above said check the cable it may have come off...........
newer Rams have no cable ,we have an electronic box the opens and closes the door, a lot of times the heater core leaks and send coolant down into this box since it os directly under the corem it shorts it out, causing no heat situation, just pull it off and get a new one or turn the door with your fingers untill you get a new one

hey laramie, how exactually did you do your flushes? i know you can but that prestone kit that you just hook up the hose to and run that for a while, but i thought i remember hearing about a way to really clean out the system.

thanks

hmm, I did the prestone flush three times in a row. Then, ( I may get flamed for this) I took off the return line to the radiator at operating temp then flushed water through it. If I remember right the return line was the lower one. I may be wrong, so maybe another person might correct me. Its been a while since I messed with it and If I don't do things often I forget lol

Get the engine hot and feel the hoses going into the firewall, they will tell you what you need to know............

I paid 40 bucks for a heater core flush a month or so ago.
