my truck must be a fluke.
From northern ohio to NC, i avaraged over 21mpg. i went 642 miles on one tank of gas. the truck is a 1995 1500 2wd 222k miles, 265/75/16 E rated Firestones, and i removed the exaust behind the cat and replaced it with a 3" from a diesel truck. I drive it everyday, in town it sucks, but on the highway the mileage is golden.

Also, its all downhill from OH to NC....

I think most, if not all, people who get over 16 mpg mixed driving are nuts, skewing their math, haven't adjusted their speedos for their tires, or are a combination of the three.

Or they aren't using a calc. the best i get on the highway is 15.5-16.5. And mixed is 12-13. So I too find it very odd that anyone gets over 18mpg highway unless they are driving a chebby, or its HankL.

I get 11-12 city and 13-14 highway...which I consider decent, since the factory window sticker numbers were 12 city/17 highway...and those are always higher than actual.

If you are traveling on flat level ground and drive very easy not getting over 55mph (with stock tires and no lift) you may get around 18mpg with the 5.9L 4x4. I did once when I first got my truck, but I drove that truck so easy going down to my destination. It was a three day trip for work, so coming back home it was all hammer down and it sucked the gas!
