Default 5.9L mpg?

I drive a 98 1500 4x4 with the 5.9L 360 with 100k. Most of my driving is a mix of highway, town, and back roads. No matter how nice I always get about 12MPG. Is that typical for the 5.9L? Any mod. suggestions?

Thats good. I get 11-12 on 87 octane, 9-10 if I use 10% ethanol 89 octane. Thats 95% in town.

Sounds about right. My 99 sport 4x4 gets about 10-12 MPG.

As far as mods, performance adders as well as better fuel injectors will definitely help...if you can keep your foot out of it. Make the engine breathe better, bigger spark, more advanced fuel/ignition timing, tranny shift kit for quicker shifts all help the truck perform more efficiently. Thus, power and MPG.

I get about 10-14, depending on my stress level and where I go. I get worse milge though if I use a higher octane than 87.
