Default remotestart/keyless entry relays

OK, i did a complete search on here and google for installing a remote starter with keyless entry and i can get a straight answer. here i go.

The unit im getting says it has 7 built in relays and states one is for door locks. cool right? well i think not, from what ive been reading the web has been telling me our trucks are 5 wire revers lock systems. So i found this guy on the net and he tells me i need this special 5 wire reverse relay http://members.tripod.com/alarmtek/RELAYORIGINAL.html
or another way to put it.... do the locks have a constant +12volts. or do they have a constant -?
so can someone shed some light on this for me please. i will greatly appreciate any help or opinions from anyone

p.s. im not buying a unit from him, sites look kind of flaky. unless some has used this guy before let me know might change my mind

thanks for any future response dennis

yeah our trucks are tricky when it comes to electrical. it is pretty complicated, but our system is a reverse polarity system. i installed a remote start/keyless entry on my 98 and it took awhile to get it right. if i remember right i think there is positive and negative for the door locks in the drivers kick panel. i remember one of them being pink and purple. you need a wiring diagram for the truck to do it right. i will try to post one up if i can find it.

If your looking for a quality brand, I have a Compustar installed in mine (i can check the model number later today if you want) but my buddy that has been in car electronics all his life swears by them. I have never had an issue with mine and can start the thing from pretty much anywhere.

My wife has had a Viper 5900 installed in her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee for the past several months and, knock on wood, no problems with it so far.

all done. i got her installed last night lickity split. was actually really easy. if anyone has any questions i prolly have some answers.
Thanks to everyone for their help and the wiring diagrams. have a good one dennis
p.s. i didnt use the unit i specified, so i ended having to use 2 relays to setup a 5 wire system.
I found a site www.the12volt.com besides dodgeforum, its the next best forum i have seen for everything dealing with auto electronics.

I have a Viper remote start. Just love it. I never freeze my nuts off waiting for the truck to warm up. It's nice and toasty when I jump in it. I think my Viper work flawless because I never had keyless entry.
