Guinea Pig: Extensive TreadWright(Retread) Tire Test Thread
ive read so much about these that ima be gettin em here in the next couple of weeks. 265/70/16 guard dog. like $430 shipped, cant beat that. and if i get 30+k out of em, ill be happy. i wanted the 255/70 but they only have one kind of tread pattern, and i want an agressive tread.
P.S. there are two of the same tread design under the 265/70/16 section, one has a (D) one has (P) and the prices are different. what does that mean?

2nd P.S. i now cant decide between the 255/70/16 pumas, or the 265/70/16 guard dogs. help anyone? i currently have 245/70/16 kumohs, with one goodyear. so ether way i am upsizing a little, but i dont want to to much. i know when i had the 265/75/16s when i bought the truck it rode worse, and the speedo was wayyy off. it isnt now, which is why im stickin with 70% heigth so they get wider really. any advice?
-265/70/16 Guard Dog (D) Tread width :8.1in. Section width: 10.2in.

Only thing I can make of it, is the P rated tires hold less pressure, and maybe bulge out a bit. Dont take my word for it tho, I'm just guessing by their numbers.
I went with the E rated 265/75/16 guard dogs on my truck because they're 3415 lbs. at 80PSI max. I run them at 45PSI each tire, with no problems...knock on wood.
The P and D have to deal with weight load ratings, if you tow or put weight in the bed I would go with the load D tires, they also usually have a higher max pressure and a stiffer sidewall I would never put anything less than a D load range tire on a truck that was going to see any real use
