Tranmission slipping in 1-2 shift.
2001 1500 5.9L 4wd Automatic. When the trans shifts from first to second the second gear engagement is very delayed. When it shifts it feels like the whole thing gets thrown into neutral for a few seconds. It'll rev way up and then shift. It only happens in the 1-2 shift and it mostly does it when the truck is cold. It is not throwing any codes whatsoever. The fluid was changed a few months ago and is at a good level and colour. It otherwise shifts fine. It came with a big aux. transmission cooler from the factory and I had a transgo shift kit installed a couple years ago. Truck has 100,000 miles on it. Any suggestions?
adjust it to spec. Dont just tighten the screw.
+1 Montec
I just rebuilt my trans last weekend (46RE of course) and (correct me if i'm wrong MonteC) but the rear band (inside the tranny) controls low/reverse. and the front band (outside the trans) controls the rest. If adjusting the front band doesn't help, then you may have bad solenoids? Just a guess on those. Otherwise it looks like you are either spendind a chunk of money to fix it or getting greasy and smelly (thanks good 'ol ATF+4) like I did and repairing it yourself.

I can get a good look at a T-Bone by sticking my head up a bulls @$$, but I'd rather take the butchers word for it?

Yes. Should be a 19mm Nut and a torx bit for the screw, depending on the year. i think the earlier ones are a square nut.
