Default 231 Transfer Case Problem

I am having trouble with my transfer case. My truck is a 2000 Ram Quad Cab with 360 Auto 42000 miles. I think the transfer case is a 231. It slips in and out of four wheel drive when it is in either high or low range. Anybody have an idea of what is causing this and what to do to fix it. Also does anybody have an explode view with parts list for this case.
Thanks,
Mark

Have you checked the vacuum lines going to the CAD? There is also a switch on the T/Case the vacuum lines go to that you can remove and try to clean. Does the lite go on and off too?

I had a friend help me yesterday by laying on the ground on the side of the truck. When it is grinding and the four wheel drive was not working the front driveshaft is not turning and the noise is coming from the transfer case, confirming it was not in the front axle. I wish it was a vacuum leak. The 4 X 4light on the dash stays on also. Any idea what to look for in the transfer case?
Thanks,
Mark
