Default Truck Making Noises When Turning

So my truck started making this annoying noise a few months ago and I'm started to get fed up with it but I'm not too sure what it is.

Here's a video.

Replace your power steering pump. Now.

I guess I'll have to start calling around to local parts shops and see how much I can get one for and hopefully find a new job so I can actually afford one.

yep, sounds like a bad PS pump. Check the lines for wetness too, maybe the fluid leaked out and fried the pump.

They aren't too bad...Advance has them for about $70...mine did that and I drained some fluid out and re-filled it with Lucas power steering additive, and no more whining...give it a try...I used two bottles (says not to use more than that).

Thanks for the replies. I'll check my power steering fluid level tomorrow and maybe changing it. If worst comes to worst, does it matter if I run my truck how it is for awhile? I've been laid off from my job since the end of October and having trouble find another one let along making a truck/insurance payment.

I'm new to working on my own vehicles so it may seem like I'm asking dumb questions but I'm just trying to learn.

Thanks again

You should be able to run it, but I would suggest getting some of that Lucas in there asap if you don't replace the pump. I used a turkey baster to just suck fluid out of the reservoir and then poured in the Lucas and let it circulate... I understand finances, and I know it sucks without a job. A bottle of the Lucas will run you about $8, so borrow it from someone if you have to, but it needs a band-aid for sure.

I guess today I'm going to check A&A for some of Lucas stuff along with a manual for my truck and stop by Walmart and grab a turkey baster since my mom would kill me if I used hers in my truck.

Yeah, don't use Mom's kitchen stuff...been there done that. Wal-Mart carries the Lucas stuff (at least here anyway)...you could go there first and maybe kill two birds with one stone.

If money is that tight, you could pass on the manual because you can get it online for free
