Default light problem

I had my lights cut out sunday when i was going to go to work. i pulled out the **** to turn the lights on and just my roof marker lights and my front parking lights came on. i replaced the headlight switch with the new one from autozone that includes the new pigtail harness and still got no lights. today i changed the turn signal switch and still have no lights. if anyone would know where to download a free wiring diaghram pleas help me out.

Default Ummm... yeah...

Ok, so this is probably the oddest thing I've seen inquite a while. When I turn on my headlights, my driver's side is on highbeam while my right side is on low beam. When I switch the highbeams on, the left side goes to lowbeam and the right side to highbeam. The highbeam indicator stays on all the time, but brighter when highbeams are on. I don't want to assume anything and end up screwing things up worse, so I figured I just ask around to see if anyone else had had similar problems and know of a solution. If someone could help me, I'd really appreciate it. I'd love to be able to see when driving at night, I found that the cops tend to like that as well.

i had an electrical problem ( and instead of one high beam one low beam) i had my reverse lights comming on when i hit my brake.

turned out to be two melted wires, and a bad ground. So check all the wiring with a tester, and test all the grounds, and feeds.

I am going through my second headlight switch in four months on my 97 Ram 1500.

Is there some sort of permanent fix for this?

Also, can I use the recall parts for the Ram 3500 on my 1500? and will my dealer even sell me the parts?

I am not much of an electrician, so is there a DIY on wiring your headlights/fog lights through relays? I have had no trouble in my 98 with the head light switch yet but I happen to believe in preventative maintenance.
