Lately my oil pressure has been going nuts. If i give it 2000 rpm's i can watch my oil pressure gage go up. Ill post a video in a bit.

Video: sorry its on rapidshare. Click free user and wait 30 seconds then click download. To view it save it and run it with windows media player

Normal. The higher you rev the engine, the faster your oil pump turns. If it's electric, you may have a sending unit taking a dump giving you eratic readings.

15-20 at idle, and 40-60 at 2000+ is normal.

so completely normal? Ive never noticed it before. It starts doing this as soon as i start it up. When i rev it it moves almost as fast as my rpm's.

because your engine is revving. The oil pump is connected to the engine and revs with the engine, it's a simple mechanical pump designed to keep the engine lubed up, more RPMs need more lube. You're a dude, you should know you need more lube at higher RPMs.

There are other factors that affect oil pressure, though. When the oil is colder, it has a higher viscosity (it's thicker), which means it cannot slip through the bearing clearances as easily. You'll notice that oil pressure at idle is quite a bit higher when the engine is first started up.
exactly what i was looking for. It was colder outside than usual and my engine was still fairly cold. Thanks everyone
