So what u all think? should I try to put the 2006 bumper on or try to save money and get the extreme bumper? Let me all know!

Anyone with experience in putting a 3rd gen bumper on a 2nd gen truck?

I would vote for an extreme bumper... It would be more functional, and if anything did happen again, you would likely have less issues.

In my dealing with insurance companies lately, it's not a very big stretch to see them trying to claim they won't cover that for blah, blah, blah... or you made it "unsafe" using something not intended for your specific vehicle.

Good luck!

So...I've been ignoring this bumper problem to not ruin my holiday season. So far so good! The snow that has covered it kept it hidden! But it melted now

Anyway...saw a craigslist posting for Winch Bumper and wanted all your thoughts on it. It is $850 which is cheaper than most winch bumpers out there. The link is below, please let me know what you all think, thanks!

Dam Tim, sucks to hear about your truck!
Ditto On CertiFit, we have them in STL and use them at the shop, never had any problems there stuff bolts right on, no tweaking needed.

I'd check into that CL add also. Looks like the top that covers the grill leans out away from the truck which looks kinda goofy to me but still looks like a bad **** bumper. If there close you should go see it first hand and see what you think.

Im gonna check and see what I have at the shop, My boss is a ram fanatic and has lots of parts laying around, I'll see if hes got any front bumpers in good shape,. But it will be Friday at earliest since today is Christmas and I got to do the family thing. I may have my sport front end, if so my bumper is in perfect condition and you got first dibs. Ill know about that on friday also when I check back with guy and make sure he still wants to trade me a motor I got at the shop for his sport package. I put you in my phone as a reminder to check so I dont forget to look but pm me Fri night so I dont forget to let you know what I found out.

PS: Any pics of the damage?

PSS: Bored and searched Portland for parts for you, found this guy who had a tree fall on his truck and es parting out alot of stuff, dunno if its close or far from you but thought i;d toss it up. Bumper looks good, maybe needs a good cleaning hopefully he can get you better pics. http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/pts/968806538.html

Hey man thanks a lot for looking into that! Will a sport bumper fit on a regular one just fine? I posted that before but I didn't see a response. It should from what I can tell cause the mounting should be the same.

Anyway thanks again for looking into it! Oh and I did call that other CL posting and he already sold his bumper! Oh well.

My boss says that sport and non-sport bolt on the same, so there should not be any issue.

Depends on the tires. If theyre just all season tires you donthave a lot of traction and the snow just packs in those little grooves and a sliden you will go.

I have chevy astro van AWD for my business. With all the weight in it and beefy studded tires I would not trade it for the world on a snowy day. I tried going out one time with the all season tires and it just laughed at me and said "where you trying to go in this mess with these lousy tires?

I have a set of studded tires for my 1500 4WD that came with truck when I bought it. Does pretty well in the snow. Of course the manul tranny helps a lot as well.

Picked up a foot and half of frsh powder last night.

Cool

Its not snow you gotta worry about, unless you got bad tires, I have BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO which are DOT approved traction devices. It is the ice UNDER the snow that got me...looking back I did nothing wrong. Just it was my fate for that to happen.

Thank you to all the Members that have given me ideas, helped or just said "oh S@&# sorry to hear that happened man".

I am looking at the upside to this...I might be getting a heavy bumper or maybe a sport bumper...I have always likes the sport bumpers! Would just need to get it painted to my body color or hmm black? Wonder how that look with a non sport rear bumper?!?

What kind of sport bumper? One like 01DodgeRam360's(99-01 Requires diff. grille) or a 94-98 sport bumper(just like your old one but everthing is painted)?
