Default Replacing my O2 sensor and throttle sensor

I need to reaplce those 2 sensors but the mechanic wants to charge me 150 for each item. Looking online im seeing i can buy each one for $40.. I asked the mechanic if i bought the products they would install them and he siad yes. So are there specific manufaturers for these 2 things i should look at or would any one of them work for my pickup? Its a 1998 RAM 1500 Quad-Cab with the 5.9L V8. Thanks!

Just buy them at your store and do them yourself. I assume the throttle sensor you're talking about is on the TB which is easily accessed. The o2 I did two summers ago and it was relatively simply with a pliers. I spent about 65 bucks IIRC on the o2 at Schucks auto. If you need some guidance, let us know. Seriously, on these trucks, nothing is hard to access. Well, except the cap and rotor

i talked to my local dodge dealer and i guess the O2 sensors i need are proprietary to my VIN number. They want 93 for each and i need 2 of em i guess. The issue is my truck is running extremely rich. could you point me out to an O2 sensor, i dont care much about the throttle sensor. it only has issues if cruise control is on.

Just go to any auto parts store and by them and install yourself. And they are not proprietary to your vin #. Just year, make, model , motor etc...

And btw, I highly doubt a pair of pliers is going to get them out.

autozone prints out instructions for almost everything for these trucks. Just ask them for help

I just used a large wrench and a torch to get mine out. I heated them with a torch until the bung just about started to glow, and it turned out like it was new. Just make sure you don't touch it and get out of the way when it falls to the ground. It's also a good idea to disconnect the wires first.

For me, reconnecting the wire for the upstream sensor was a bitch.

Bung. Hehe.

Yes, one of them sucks! I forget which one, but the connector is on top of the tranny. So do the one that you can see how the plug disconnects first. Then you can do the other one blind.
