On my '96 my plugs were a .035 or .35 gap. I dont bother torquing the plugs to a set one, just the german one, GutenTite.

per haynes manual, spark plug gap is .035 and torque spec is 30 ft lbs.
use anti-seize on the threads and i wouldn't torque them that tight, i'd stop at about 25.

tip - use compressed air to blow out the spark plug heat shield tubes. they're usually full of dirt, which falls down in the cylinder when you remove the plug.

another tip - after i struggled with getting new plugs started inside those stupid heat shields, i just removed them with a big pair of pliers and some yanking and wiggling. i've seen no ill effects, just make sure they wires are clear of the exhaust manifold.

edit... dang. wayne beat me to it.

just an FYI, on my 3rd 2nd gen ram, only thing that has made them ping was a bad plenum gasket.
