4x4 problem need help
Zman17 -- The black composite bushing you speak of, is this the one in the shifting fork inside the Tcase? I'm currently going thru a little different problem as mine will not shift into High 4WD, but as I continue will go into low 4WD. In both cases the dash light is on and shift lever seems to move normal.
hi all newbie here i got a question here its goes when i drive my 99 ram on the road at 55 mph my 4wd seems to disengage then re- engage what could be wrong it doesnt do it right away either i have to be driving for like 15 miles before it starts doing that but its disengages re-engages 20 30 seconds later does it again repeatedly until i take it out of 4wd need some help here thanks
You got to do the same thing as previously stated. Check all the vacuum hoses . Including the ones coming from the engine. There is also a vacuum switch on the transfer case that can be removed and cleaned. Just follow the hoses form the axle and you will see it.
so i figured out the grinding was because of the snap ring broke on the rear output shaft of the transfer case. I put a standard snap ring in and ordered a transfer case saver piece, the 4wd worked with the standard snap ring then i put the transfer case saver in and now it wont engage.
