ok, cause i think that will b the way i go because i have looked for the dodge offroad springs, cant find them and this looks like an easier way to do this. for the little bit of lift i want.

and just to see what everyone else thinks.... i will be going up the 2 inchs, and putting 285/75/r16 dakota definity mt's on. i should sit pretty good with this set up?

Yep, sounds good lift and tire wise, but what gears do you have? 285's are pretty much 33" tall. Kinda will suck with the 3.55's if thats what you got. Wont be horrible, but it will feel like you lost a fair amount of power. I cant stand my 34's with 3.92 gears.

well for right now i still have the stock 3.55's, i want to go to the 3.73's, but i dont know how much of a differance that would make. i also have to keep in mind this is my daily driver to get back and forth to work with so i do not want the low gears of 4.10's or lower. i mean right now i have the 265's, and it is slow yes but it isnt sluggish, like i dont mind not having all the power in the world. so will the 285's make that much of a differance. i cruise down highway at around 1500rpms or lower, and i would like to keep it that way, or some what close. 3.73's is pretty much what i am after isnt it? or do you think i should go lower?

this is alot on the forum, if you would like or can just im me, it would be alot faster. hondakiller22.. thats on yahoo

The highest (numerically lower) gears I would personally want on a daily driver with 285's would be 4.10's. But that is just me. If you like the way it drives right now with your stock gears then chances are you wont like it with 285's. If it were me, I wouldn't bother changing to 3.73's. I would go straight to 4.10's, or if plans for 35's are ever in the future then I would go with 4.56's.

I don't even know what IM is (guessing Instant Message?) or how to do it.

ok yea, it is instant message. never mind on that. and as for the gears. i dont knwo what is pushing me away from the 4.10's i mean, i guess it is in hopes to try to save gas. how much differant will 4.10's make on m gas milage? cause i already have single diget mileage. thats kinda why i dont want to go up to the 35" tires. i would just straight kill the gas tank. how much would i be running to put a set of gears like that in? has to be expansive. and are the 3.73's not that much differant. i mean my truck seems to have enough power now. wouldnt it just balance back out by putting the 32.8" tires and 3.73's. wouldnt that just mke it feel as it does now?

dont get me wrong, if it wont kill the gas milage that bad, i will step to 4.10's. but i have to run, about 25 miles every other day down the highway, and at 65 it kind of helps to have that little bit lower rpms while cruising. that is what i am worried about

I don't believe you can purchase 3:73s for your truck, I can't ever recall them being listed. You can get 3:92s, but 4:10s are easier to find although you will need a thicker carrier for your front diff or special thicker gears.
The cool thing about matched gears to tires/computer is that your mileage may actually increase if your motor is running in its sweet spot.
33 inch tires and 3:55 gears make for sluggish off line performance. May kill your mileage even more, although I suspect you have other issues.

While my truck came with 33's I was always able to get of the line quicker than most cars around me, 33's are not really that heavy compared to smaller tires. With my 35's I do notice off the line jump to dwindle.

What do you mean your truck came with 33's? Did you buy it used? Dodge never offered 33's as a factory option, unless you have yourself a newer power wagon (which has 285's and 4.56 gears).

well if i get those 3.92 gears. with the 33's, it would drop the mileage wouldnt it? where is the "sweet spot" for our trucks to be at? like rpms? and it shouldnt hurt anything to run these gears until i get more money to just go to 4.10's but i need that explained. what needs to be thicker? and what do you mean you suspect other problems or what ever?
