another lift question
if i get the off road springs front and rear, or even the skyjacker springs from advanced auto (that give a 2-2 1/2" lift). would i still need to do the drop pitment arm, longer brakelines, anything like that. and if i don the lift, i am going to want to flex so i should probably do the longer brake lines anyway. but the steering is what i am worried about
Usually only a 4 inch lift or more would require one. If you are getting a kit it should tell you if it needs one, if you a piecing one together just look at a lift of the same size and see if it needs one.
I would recomend the longer brake lines though, you dont want those to brake in alot of flex.

yea, i want to put the bigger stronger steering box in my truck anyway becuase the one i have is leaking, and the steering wheel is alreay off center. so i want to get better. and now that i look. i can peice a kit together for about $300 with shipping nd everything cuase i only want to go up alittle bit. maybe 2 in, and i can get the skyjacker softride coil springs for the front for about 166 plus shipping, and the add-a-leaf for the rear for about 88 plus shipping. has anyone else done something like this... not nesicarily ( sorry cant spell) the cheap way of doing it, but the cheaper way. if that makes sense. kinda like not spnding it if i dont have to (because of the name) kinda deal. but has anyone else put this kind of stuff in before and can give me any advise?
I gained just over 3" of lift with the 1 ton coils I have and I did not change anything else. Pitman arm, track bar, control arms, brake lines... its all stock. And I have no sway bar so it flexes quite well (as good as stock suspension can) and the brake lines are long enough. One problem though is it flexes so much the drive shaft will bind at full droop. A limiting strap should be installed with no sway bar.

THERE IS NO! Bigger better steering box, they are the same units for the 25 or 3500 4x4. You might get a box from PSC for instance, but it's the SAME thing for a 1500.
Exactly, all the stock steering boxes are the same. I have heard the 1 ton boxes have a different ratio, but never really confirmed it.
I would say buy a PSC box like I did a year ago (nice steering box), but they just quit making them for dodges. Apparently the cores they were getting back were not good enough to repair so they finally stopped making them.
Just get a reman at the local parts store. If it starts puking fluid or steering really sloppy (which the chances are quite good) then just take it back and get another one as it usually happens before the warranty is up.

Forget your idea, you are better off staying with the one you have. Trust me,I've just gone through this BS with reman. units. if you want to do a search for my steering prob posts. And I'm about to take the rebuilt box I have now and return it, because some thing isn't right.
oh.. i get it, i thought you had ment the boxes would just bolt right up (not being the same) but ok. now i know better then the new steering box. ill just deal with what i have until it really goes and then just get another one. but ok, a strap for the limiting of down travel. didnt think it would go that far. but you say the stock lines are good. ok. works for me. and i dont need the 1 ton springs as they were probably alot more expencive i would amagine. but do the skyjacker add-a-leafs bring it up the amount they say it will? or should i just see what i can do about replacing the entire unit? and the front springs shouldnt be tht bad, they are just new springs. anyone got the "soft ride"? what is the differance?

The "soft ride" spring is just the name skyjacker uses for their springs. If you get the half ton springs (for whatever amount of lift you want) it will lift it that much yet basically have the same spring rate as the stockers.
The add-a-leaf typically lifts the rear what it says it does (if you get a 2" add-a-leaf you should gain 2").
