Default Steering boxes

I am in the market for a new steering box. I was looking on summit and was wondering If anyone has tried one of there aftermarket steering boxes? Or would I be better off just to get an oem replacement? Anything else prefered? Recomendations?

My truck is stock height(staying that way) and 4x4, daily driver, mostly on the street.

summit agr box 1 (theres a box 2 aswell)

I recently went through a nitemare with mine. Two A-1 Cardones were no good, I was PO'd and went to pepboys and bought some brand I never heard of Fein, IIRC. And my probs were gone. So don't get a Cardone rebuilt. And BTW , whats wrong with yours? And have you tried tightening it? If you download the factory service manual from the DIY section in the Merry christmas thread, it will show you how to properly adjust it, and you might avoid the probs I went through. Oh, and I just remembered I have this.http://dodgeram.org/tech/mods/steeri...ear/Adjust.htm

no personal experience, but i see PSC mentioned a lot.

hmm. 2nd gen no longer listed on website. you might call.

i don't know how feasible this is, but i've heard of people using 2500 boxes on a 1500. for some strange reason, the 2500 box is supposed to be cheaper. again, no personal experience.

I am 99 percent sure , as long as it is a 4x4 they are exactly the same. it's just another option when looking in the JY for one.(same goes for if it is 2 wheel drive) And the PSC is another option, but expensive like OEM. Usually not an option if $ is a factor.

You can put a 2500 box on the 1500. The only difference is the gear. The 1500 box is a variable gear where the 2500 is not. The 1500 box makes it easier to turn at slow speeds. It would be a personal preference thing. And yes, the AGR boxes are about as good as you're gonna get. Price is really the only factor there.

hmm, didn't know they where adjustable, thanks for the link. I work at a parts store and the reman replacements we sell are kinda ****ty. I am willing to pay more for the aftermarket upgrade one since I plan on keeping this truck a while.

I'll definatly try adjusting it first

Thank you
