94 magnum 3.9L
i currently drive a ram 1500 single cab, long wheel base. I get 12 mpg average, and flooring it isnt much different than having my foot about halfway down on the gas pedal. So i was wondering what would be more cost effective; supercharging it, or replacing the engine with a 5.4L V8 magnum?
i know that i would need a new transmission with the new engine, but if someone could tell me what else i need that would be awesome. I haven't the slightest clue about anything to do with supercharging it, i just ran into the possibility of it while researching an engine swap. So, my questions are what would supercharging my truck do to the horsepower and fuel economy, as well as how much it would run me, and what all would i have to replace to put the V8 magnum into it.
P.S. I can get an engine for around $500-600 from our local mechanic, as well as get other parts relatively cheap.

the 318, my mistake i thought they were 5.4L not 5.2.
i have read that the v6 magnums were essentially the 318s wit htwo cylinders lopped off so i figures that would be simpler than a 360
