Default oil catch can anyone??

i only had the truck for a short time and i really got it as a toy to play on.
when i looked down the throttle body i did see alot of oil, and when took out the IAT and they were covered in oil so before i took the plenum apart
i wanted to try and see how much oil was coming in via the PVC. So i put in an oil catch can and see what i can get between oil changes.
after 3,000 miles i did empty it once. so alot of oil was getting sucked in to the intake and gumming up intake, valves, pistons,
so far i ran 2 tanks of Sea Foam, installed MSD-6A, and a new set of plugs
seems to be running smoother and no pinging underload
i think 2 more tankfulls of seafoam and the valve and piston should be clean.

Why bother wasting money on Seafoam or whatever until after you fix the plenum? The longer you wait the more damage will be done. And unless the PCV valve is stuck open you are not going to get that much oil through it.

Exactly! what ever was done completely removed the operation of the pcv, so basically it might as well have been just the hose. And since there is some blow by it will just pump some amount of oil through it.

well you put the oil catch can between the PCV and the intake.
this catches any oil that is blown from the PCV into the intake. it might only be a few oz every 3,000 miles but it does at up over time.

No, my PCV in not stuck it works perfectly
i put this in 4 other cars (2003 MINI S, 2008 Civic SI, 2006 GMC 1500, Nissan pickup) and all of then do catch some amount of oil. the amount differ bepending on how much you are on the throttle and how much blow-by your engine has.

so before you shoot it down try it and see how much oil is blown into your intake via the PCV. It only cost about 30 for me to build on.

no my plenum is not bad, i did the other test to check it out, no ping at part throttle, did a pressure test on the PCV hose while blocking the other hose off. and all were neg.

both make for a good read

dhvaughan you are right that is what i made it out of, but it works
it removes the oil before it blows into the intake

the good thing is that it only cost about $30 to make or you can buy an oil catch can from summit for about $100 and they both do the same thing.

did you look at the to wesites i listed?
that is were i got the idea from.
i installed on in my 2008 Civic Si for 9 month 2005 GMC 1500 for 4 months, 1995 Ram 5.2 for about 5 month and all with no issues.
yes, they all collected some amount of oil that came from the PCV as a product of blow-by

You mean the websites you posted 'after' your original post? And our original replies? Yes

And btw, when I said I thought it was something you made yourself, I meant like sticking the hose in a coke can or something.
