truck was broken into. need some help
Late last night while my truck was parked in wal-mart. someone decided to jam a screwdriver through my door and beside my passenger door handle and break the lock.
needless to say the alarm i put on the truck for this one reason did nothing.
They went straight for my radio, in the process adding to the ever growing dash cracking and leaving me without a radio.
now my question is.
A)is the guts(lock and latch mechanism) from a durango interchangable into a dodge ram 1500?
b)should i consider a dash cover or a replacement dash? if i go cover, the crack and holes will be hidden.
c)how easy would it be to fix a small hole from someone prying a hole smaller than a penny between the door handle and body?
lastly, ive heard of fogging paint? to prevent rust care to elaborate. i need to fix a dent i got from the same friggin parking lot.
pic of truck in the good days. now there is a dent on the drivers side rear door right where the silver meets the orange. with paint peeling. hence me asking about fogging paint?

Dude that sucks... as for fogging paint, not real sure I've ever heard of it.. I know of fogging technique, where you use some shadowing to create a fogged appearance.. I also know of fogging to be a bad thing that happens when you have too much moisture when you paint.. But, not sure what fogging paint is.. The best thing you can do, is use a steel brush and some sandpaper to clean the area well, then some rust inhibiting primer, and paint to match.. THe colors you have are so easy to match, should be no real problem.. If the orange has any fading, a trick to make it match well, is use spray cans, when doing the final coats, put the can in warm water for a few minutes before painting, GO EASY, IT WILL MAKE IT MORE PRONE TO RUN, but the warming of the can will help the clear to mix better, causing it to shade the paint a bit, and it should match the fade perfectly... It will also cause it to gloss up like the original... so when you wax the truck, it will look right.. And shine well...
I've done that technique to many colors... Also the same will work with helping to get mettallics to belnd when doing a small touchup.. but mettallics need to be a bit warmer, and go REAL EASY on the coats.. thin mists until it looks right..
Anyway, hope that helps...
