Smile Over head center console

The driver side push button light does not work, when I hit the button it just flops around. lol So I am wondering how do I get this console apart so I can trouble shoot it. And if I need to replace the entire lighting system wire harness any place I can buy a new one?

The mounting plastic-parts on the inside have become brittle.
Over time, it happens and, exactly what you describe will take place.
Take it down & you will see what I mean. If the mounting legs for the switches are not
in pieces, you can x-poxy them back together so the screws can go back in. If the 2 little mounting taps for each
lense are broke,.. Off to the bone-yard for replacements.

Does it just pop off, or is there a screw hidden some where? I like to know before I tear stuff up.

It might be a little different than my 1997, but on mine there is two screw in the front bottom of the console and then it should slide out. Be careful though if you have the lights and compass/temp console.
hope that helps

There will be 2 screws at the front edge of the console. Remove them and then CAREFULLY and GENTLY slide the console to the rear. When it gets back far enough to begin to drop down remove it far enough to unplug the wiring to it. There are 2 vertical plastic tabs at the rear of the console that hold it up and they have a "T" shape formed by a metal clip which must fit through a cross shaped stamped hole in the cab roof. If you break these you will be in deep doo-doo. The repair of the switch assembly can be done with epoxy as stated above, but be careful not to smear it around the switch mechanism. Also be very careful when you put it back in so you don't break the clips.

Well I took down the over head console to fix the light, and I found out that the little white peice with the spring attached some how popped off, so I put every thing back where it was suppose to be, hooked every thing back up and BAM light works great! Thanks every one for the support.
