Help please! new stereo install
I just installed a pioneer from Best Buy in my 98 1500. I got a wiring harness and dash plate kit from walmart but the ones at best buy are pretty much the same.
I stared at the instructions for quite a while before I figured it out. But I got it and it all works.
Your pictures look exactly like mine.
The stereo looking black plug on the right is the antenna.
The single black and blue wire I believe is the ground but I put my ground wire directly on to the metal (I put it in to one of the screws that were in metal in the back.)
The two brackets should plug into two of the sockets on the wiring harness with a big one on the harness left over.
The harness should have a big plug that isn't used, it's for a different type of stereo I believe.
Then you have to connect the loose wires from the wiring harness to the loose wires on the piece that came with the stereo. Read the instructions on both the harness and the stereo and they will explain which colors go together. You will be better off connecting those wires with some wire crimpers and some connectors, but you can just twist them together and secure it with electrical tape.
Then you need a kit to mount the stereo. The wallmart one worked great for me, just read the instructions several times, haha.
Hope that helps.

This is from Cruchfield website here http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207018...7#overview-tab
Connections:
Notes: You'll need to connect the receiver's ground wire to either the braided strap inside the dash, or to the ground wire, or you may need to make a new ground connection to your car's chassis. On some vehicles, you may have a common ground. If so, the speaker negatives are electrically the same for the left and right side speakers. Most aftermarket receivers (and all that Crutchfield sells) will need an additional adapter, or you may run new speaker wires from your receiver to the speakers - see "Accessories" for speaker wire.
Infinity Sound System Notes: If your vehicle has the Infinity system, you'll connect the blue wire from the Crutchfield harness to the amp remote wire from the new receiver. There also may be a second wire, usually green/black, attached to the factory radio chassis with the braided strap. If so, this is the ground for the Infinity amplifier(s), and it must be attached to the braided strap and the replacement receiver's ground wire.
As stated above go to Walmart get a kit their very cheap with good instructions to what goes where and saves lots of time.
