Ok, being that I'm new to the forum, forgive me if I'm beating an old and dead horse. I recently purchased a set of Clear headlights designed for a 99-01 Ram Sport, and put them on my 98 Ram. I already had them on and performed all the sheet metal work required to install and wasted an entire day trying to figure out how to wire them up.

My problem is converting my dual 9004 lamps to use the new Sport Quad lamp setup (two 9004 and two 9007). Does anyone have a schematic and instructions to perform this conversion?? I didn't know, until last night, that the 99 Rams had a switched ground system that the 98 doesn't have, and that the 9007 bulbs are apparently wired differently as well.

I already re-installed the original lamps and headlight units until I can get the electrical issues resolved. Help!

and had issues with the wiring. What I do know is that the 9007 bulbs are wired differently and the ground is in the middle of the contacts on the bulb, the 9004 has the ground on one of the ends.

you will have to modify the housing to make it work with one of the bulbs, I forget which. the housing in the group buy used one of each of the 9007/4 bulbs so in order to use the 7's, a mod needed to be done.

read the thread and see if it helps... i ended up using a meter to figure out how the wiring needed to be. Now it's all good.

The housing(s) that I purchased are already fitted for a 9004 and a 9007, so no mods are needed in that regard. The only thing I had to do was cut out some sheet metal to allow the second headlamp connector and twist holder to clear the area behind the headlight.

So, the 9007 has the ground in the center, not to the one side as the 9004 does. That helps a bit. I'll check the bulbs out and see what I come up with.

Anyone have a schematic to wire these to avoid causing the headlight switch to burn out?

did you get the wiring harness for the quad setup? I used the info on the Pavementsucks link. most of it worked but I ended up having to re-wire part of it because when I turned on my hi-beams, the lights would go dim...

 

Mucho thanks for the wiring diagram. That helps in the greatest amount. No, I didn't get any sort of wiring from anyone or anywhere. Mainly because I didn't think a wiring setup existed for the type of conversion I am attempting and I wasn't aware of the difference in wiring from the 98 Ram to the 99 Ram Sport.

there was a wiring harness that you could get from that PS group buy that would simplify your install a bunch, check into it...

 

Just got back from looking at that link. Problem was, for some reason, not many of the pics loaded onto my computer (if it isn't one problem, its another!!<bg&gt Anyway, I'd definately be interested in picking up the wiring harness. I'll look into this in the next couple of hours.
