on the Ford, I had a 79, that needed front end work, and the bed was so rusted, if I had anything heavy in it, it would actually cut off the fuel by compressing the line, I traded it straight up for a 80 Mercedes Benz, the guy thought the motor was blown, but all it was was the throttle linkage was on a bind, fixed it, and it ran great.. Till some kids busted the windshield on it.. Then I traded it for a years worth of lawn care services.. Got the 70 for free, started restoring it.. And had it looking REAL nice, and lots of money in parts.. then it was stolen, Now I get the dodge, and the tranny blew up.. My wife thinks I'm not supposed to have a truck..
As for the tranny, I got a guy going to do it for me, I decided that was the best way to go, so If something happens I have a warranty, and his price is excellent.. and he's going to fix the exhaust and replace the oil pump and shaft, all for $1200
Anyway, that will make a total of $3400 in this truck, that's initial cost and repair.. I paid $2200 out the door, for it, and now $1200 for repair.. book on this truck is around $4000 so not a bad deal....
