Need help. Transmission shifting problem, but no code.
While driving to meet up with some friends today I experienced a problem on the highway with my truck. I was driving up to highway speed and I noticed that my transmission was shifting higher than normal at about 4200 RPM and wouldn't go into its higest gear. This didn't start until I got on the highway. It was shifting normally on the 5 miles of back road to the highway. This lasted a bit, then the transmission seemed to downshift until ultimately I was in 1st gear going 30mph at 3500rpm. I got it up to about 4700rpm twice, but it wouldn't shift again. I got off the next exit and checked the fluid level, which was normal. I continued on the backroads with it shifting at about 4200rpm, but it would ocassionally shift at the normal rpm(about 2700) into new gears.
The transmission ocasionally shifts correctly, and ocasionally shifts at about 4200 rpm, and ocasionally doesn't shift at all. There are no codes being put out by my truck. Any assistantance with this will be greatly appreciated.
Forgot to mention it is a 2001 Ram 1500 extended cab 5.9liter engine with Automatic Transmission.
