Default Removing molding side molding

I want to remove the black molding on the doors and on the bed of my truck. Has anyone ever done this with thier truck and is there any problems they have run into. Also any tips that would make this easier would be good to know.

Welcome to 2003. Hair dryer on the hottest setting or a heat gun and some fishing line.
Apply the heat to the molding and use the line to cut the warmed tape. Use Goo-Gone or alcohol to remove the residue.

I'm sorry, I don't know a good way to get take them off, other than starting at one end with a heat gun and slowly peel them off. And if it's a regular cab w/8ft bed and you get them off without destroying them, I'd love to have them.

Oh, I also suggest having a can of PBlaster on-hand. Get the plastic panel to peel away and then spray the foam tape with the PBlaster. It will eat/melt the tape.

Ooo, I'll have to try PBlaster. I used a pair of plyers to grip them and just pealed them back. It left a lot of tape but, I don't care so much. I ended up sanding it off where I repainted.

Working in a body shop, I often do this before painting. Like suggested, warm up the molding and start on one end and peel it off. You can use a putty knife if your careful. There is a special tool used to remove the adhesive, taped pinstripe or any vinyl lettering without compromising the paint. I don't know the name of the maker, but its called the eraser and used on a common drill.

It's made by Astro, basically an eraser wheel that goes on your drill.
