Default I am STUPID: P1740 code help

I stated in another thread that my error code for my engine light check was a P 1470, well today i had the local shop plug it in and it was a P1740 code. Said it was a tranny solenoid problem. I called my local tranny place who is an older guy and is pretty honest with stuff and he said he could fix it, but it is a bit pricey 300 dollar range. Is this all that this is?? or is there something else i need to ask about when he looks at this. I dont have any problems with shifting or putting truck in any gear and what not. I do think the RPM's are a little high when i punch the gas from about 40 MPH to go faster they just up to about 4500 until it shifts but it shifts fine nothing hard. Anyways i did a search and found a little info i just want some more up to date info on this. Hopefully i wont have to have a new tranny lol. thanks yall.

MonteC has posted up numerous times about replacing the tranny solenoid and sensor. I think he's even posted a mini walkthru. you should search for some of his posts. Just type in Solenoid and his name in the advanced search.
