O2 Extender... anyone use this?

I've heard rumor at work that if you put an o2 extender on the downstream sensor.. it will increase gas mileage... has anyone done this... and does anyone see a problem doing so?
I'm guessing by pushing the sensor away from the exhaust gases.. it will read different and adjust the computer some how?

Putting it on the downstream sensor will do nothing, that one is just letting the computer know the cat is working properly.
