IDK the exact spring tension/rate is. I'd just buy them from the dealer to be sure.

Keep in mind that the TSB for wire routing was also written by a Chrysler Tech. And was written specifically for our vehicles as it was a known repeatable problem. Cold/hot ignition has very little to do with the spark jump. Its the location of those posts on the distributor and the order in which they fire that causes the issues.

sorry I had to edit, it was a Technical Service Bulletin on wire routing, not the Field Service Manual.

I know this doesn't help with your possible valve issue, but I used to have the same acceleration problem. Felt like a rev limiter kicking. Replaced the coil with an Accel coil (most folks seem to like MSD) and the problem went away and since then the truck will run right on up without a falter. Guess the factory coil was not quite up to the job. BTW replaced the coil months after replacing the cap, rotor, plugs (used Champion Truck plugs) and plug wires purchased from Napa.

Well when I did the wires change the coil wire was corroded where it snaps onto the coil and it is the original coil. I was looking at the Accel but I have a question; does my truck need the wiring adapter they talk about or is it the later models?

Not sure about the adapter. I had to get the adapter cable for my '01 (Feb '00 build month). If you don't get an answer by Saturday, I will try to remember to take a look, and some pics, of the coil and adapter plug ends for comparison.

hey AIm my CEL went off by itself earlier this week after the 3rd double dose of fuel injector cleaner. as of this posting it still has not come back on. this has happened before where it will run "right" for about a few months then the miss will come back and trigger the cycl 5 misfire CEL. We'll see.
